How to make a passport size photo

Four steps, no account, nothing to install.

  1. Step 1: Upload a portrait

Face the camera straight on in even light with a plain wall behind you. Drop the JPG or PNG here — up to 20MB, straight from your phone gallery if you like.

  2. Step 2: Let auto-crop frame the face

Auto-crop centres your head and sets it to fill 60–80% of the frame, the window nearly every Indian passport, visa and exam spec states. Drag the crop yourself any time you disagree.

  3. Step 3: Pick the size and background

    Tap Passport (413 × 531), Visa (600 × 600), Government Job (200 × 230), SSC or UPSC — or enter a custom size — then choose a white, blue or light-gray background.

  4. Step 4: Download one photo or a sheet

Take the single photo for an online form, or build a printable sheet of 4, 6, 8 or 16 copies on 4 × 6 inch paper as JPG, PNG or PDF for the studio.

Why use this passport photo maker

Built by Indian Jobs Hub for the same application our signature resizer serves — a studio visit and a rejected upload, both avoided.

  • Face-aware cropping

The head is found and centred for you, and a Face Size slider re-frames it so head height and eye level land inside the accepted band — no measuring with a ruler on screen.

  • Presets for passport, visa and exams

Passport, visa, government-job, SSC and UPSC sizes are listed together, because they are the same job at different dimensions and KB limits.

  • Printable sheets for ₹20 at the studio

Tile 4, 6, 8 or 16 copies onto a 4 × 6 inch sheet at 300 DPI and download it as JPG, PNG or PDF. Any local print shop can run it off.

  • Plain, accepted backgrounds

Swap a messy room for plain white, blue or light gray — the three backgrounds Indian passport, visa and recruitment forms actually accept.

  • Checked before you download

A validation panel compares the output against the preset — dimensions, file size, background, head size and eye level — and says plainly when a check could not run.

  • Free, private, no watermark

No subscription and no logo across your face. Your photo travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted from the server right after it is processed.

Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before making their first photo.

How do I make a passport size photo online for free?

Upload a front-facing portrait above, let auto-crop frame your head, pick the Passport preset — or Visa, Government Job, SSC or UPSC — and choose a white, blue or light-gray background. Download the single photo for an online form, or a printable sheet of 4, 6, 8 or 16 copies. The Indian Jobs Hub passport photo maker is free, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark.

What is the correct passport photo size in India?

An Indian passport photograph is 3.5 by 4.5 cm, which is 413 by 531 pixels at 300 DPI — the Passport preset here. A US or Schengen-style visa photo is 2 by 2 inches, or 600 by 600 pixels, and most government job portals ask for roughly 200 by 230 pixels between 20 KB and 50 KB. Requirements vary between SSC, UPSC, Railway, IBPS and state boards, so confirm the numbers in the official notification and then pick or type them here.

How much of the frame should my head fill?

Nearly every Indian passport, visa and exam specification asks for the head — crown of the hair to chin — to fill about 60 to 80 percent of the picture height, with the eyes a little above the middle. This tool targets that window automatically and draws head-top, eye-level and chin guides over the preview so you can see where you land.

Does auto-crop work in every browser?

Auto-crop and the head-size check use the browser’s built-in face detection, which today only Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave and most Android browsers provide. On Firefox and Safari the tool falls back to a centred portrait crop that you can adjust by hand, and the head-size and eye-level checks honestly report "can’t verify" rather than showing a green tick for a test that never ran. Everything else — sizes, backgrounds, sheets and downloads — works identically everywhere.

Can I print a sheet of passport photos at a local shop?

Yes, and that is what the sheet exporter is for. Choose 4, 6, 8 or 16 copies and the photos are tiled onto a 4 by 6 inch sheet at 300 DPI — the standard photo-paper size every studio in India stocks. Download it as JPG, PNG or PDF, hand it over on your phone or a pen drive, and a 4 by 6 print usually costs around 20 rupees.

Which background colour should I choose?

Plain white is correct for an Indian passport, for visa applications and for almost every recruitment portal, so it is the default. Light gray is accepted by some visa authorities that ask for an off-white background, and blue appears in a handful of state and institutional specifications. When the notification does not say, choose white.

Are my photos safe and private?

Yes. Your photo is sent over an encrypted connection, processed on the server, and the upload is deleted immediately afterwards. The printable sheet is assembled entirely inside your browser and never leaves your device at all. No account is required, and nothing is stored, shared or used for training or advertising.

Does the passport photo maker work on a mobile phone?

Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works in any modern Android or iOS browser, including taking or picking the photo straight from your camera roll. There is nothing to install, and the sheet exporter works on mobile too.
