The background removal itself runs entirely inside your browser, so your original photo — background and all — is never uploaded. When you then download at a chosen size, format or quality, the finished cut-out image is sent over an encrypted connection to be exported and is deleted from the server immediately afterwards. Nothing is stored, shared or used for training or advertising.

Transparent is the default here, so simply download without picking a background colour — the output format is already set to PNG, because JPG cannot store transparency. Choose WEBP instead if you want the same transparency at a much smaller file size, which most modern browsers and design tools accept.

The AI model is about 4.5 MB and is downloaded the first time you use the tool, along with the runtime that executes it. After that both stay in your browser cache, so every later photo skips straight to the cutout, which takes roughly a second. A slower first run is the cost of not sending your photo to a server.

Move the Edge Smoothing slider. Raising it feathers the outline, which hides a jagged or harsh edge; lowering it keeps fine detail crisp. Results also depend on the source photo — even lighting and a background that contrasts with your clothes and hair give the model far more to work with than a dark jumper against a dark wall.

JPG (JPEG), PNG and WEBP files up to 20MB are accepted. You can download as PNG or WEBP to keep transparency, or as JPG when the background has been replaced with a solid colour and the form asks for a JPEG.

Yes. It works in any modern Android or iOS browser, including picking a photo straight from your gallery. Because the model runs on your device, an older or low-memory phone will take a few seconds longer on the first photo than a desktop would — but the result is identical.
